Do you supply plants?

Yes, I do. I hand pick plants from a variety of specialist trade nurseries and can have them delivered straight to site for planting day. This is ideal, as trade nurseries offer a broader selection of plants and in larger quantities than many nurseries stock.  It also means potted plants are under the care of the nursery, until required on site for planting- less stress and better quality plants!

Do you guarantee the plants?

Due to the variables in the garden, often out of my control (such as irrigation being turned off etc), I do not offer a formal guarantee on plants. However I will do everything possible to ensure their success from correct plant selection, irrigation specification, soil conditioning and proper planting. I also assess plants on delivery day to ensure they are top quality stock, and will send any back that don't meet my standards.

Is my garden too big or too small for a garden design?

I have designed tiny courtyards to large rural acreages - the point of good garden design is to make the most of the space you have available and it is never wasted, no matter the size of garden.

Should I Use a Garden Designer or a Landscaper?

Garden Designers are both technically skilled and artistic. They combine horticultural expertise with creativity, using plants and materials to craft spaces that are not only functional but also visually striking and emotionally engaging. If you’re seeking a garden that’s truly unique and delivers that “wow” factor, starting with a garden designer is your best option.
If you are happy with the layout of your garden and just need a refresh of plants a garden designer is certainly the one to engage as they can offer planting plans without the need for any landscaping at all. 
Landscapers, on the other hand, bring a broad set of practical skills and equipment. They can reshape terrain, install drainage, lay foundations, build structures, and execute complex designs safely and within budget. If your project involves straightforward tasks—like replacing a driveway, terrace, or boundary—a landscaper is likely all you need, as a designer may not add enough value for these simpler jobs.
There are also “design and build” companies that offer both design and landscaping services. The quality of these firms can vary greatly: some excel at both aspects, while others may be less impressive. The main advantage is potential cost savings, as they might streamline the process and reduce the need for detailed construction drawings. However, be aware that a lower design fee doesn’t guarantee the lowest construction costs, and you may have less flexibility in choosing who builds your garden.
Advantages of Using a Garden Designer:
Garden designers are dedicated to and passionate about creating original, bespoke gardens. They’re more likely to deliver a truly unique design, while design/build firms may stick to familiar, “safe” solutions.
A garden designer will provide detailed specifications and can invite multiple landscapers to bid on the project. This ensures competitive pricing and that everyone is quoting for the same work.
With a garden designer overseeing construction, you can be confident that practical decisions won’t compromise the integrity of the design. Their involvement helps balance functionality with the original creative vision.

Do you maintain the garden?

Although I don't offer garden maintenance as a primary service, I like to make sure the gardens I've designed are maturing as intended. With this in mind I offer monthly or seasonal garden check ups which include formative pruning, plant editing (if a certain plant isn't doing as I intended), fertilising and plant training. I don't offer lawn mowing, but can recommend other trusted professionals who do.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

I charge for initial consultations because my time, expertise, and professional advice are valuable services. 
Charging a consultation fee ensures that I can dedicate focused and meaningful attention to understanding your project and providing tailored guidance. 
It also establishes a working relationship based on professionalism, dedication, and quality of service from the very start of the project, with clients who are committed to achieving the best possible outcome for their space.

How much does a garden installation usually cost?

The cost of your garden installation will depend on several factors, including the size of your garden, the complexity of the site, and the features you’d like to include. 
Simple projects—such as basic lawn installation or planting garden beds—tend to be more affordable. 
More elaborate installations, which might involve custom designs, extensive hardscaping (like decks, retaining walls, or paving), mature plants, water features, or lighting, will generally be more expensive.
Other factors that can influence the cost include the condition of your site (such as whether it’s sloped or needs significant preparation), the types of materials and plants you choose, and any special elements you wish to add.
If you are working with a specific budget I am happy to design something that can work to that, and can add in my best money saving tips as well! It's helpful to be transparent with what you are looking to spend during the initial phases of the design process. It can be really disappointing having a beautiful design drawn up, only to have the landscaper's quotes come back way over budget. 
However, a thoughtful garden design and a well-planned space are not limited by budget. No matter what you choose to invest in your garden installation, a professional design can help you achieve a beautiful, high-quality result tailored to your needs and style.
